The Ick is a iPhone- and iPad-native app that I've fully designed and am I'm currently developing on my own with Bubble.io as my development tool of choice.
The concept for The Ick was born out loving movies, but not always loving the more-squeamish parts. At one point, I was navigating a string of nominated films during Oscar season, while also trying to blindly figure out which ones may have scenes that may be too gory or too violent.
The Ick has dedicated sections on the tabbar for movie discovery on the home page as well as search functionality for any movies the user may be searching for.
Each individual movie page (populated with data from IMDB's robust database API) contains useful information ranging from film synopsis, rating, director, and genres, and also run time and community ratings.
If the user would like to know more about a movies potentially-triggering scenes, they can simply swipe up on the movie page to reveal the movie’s Ick Report, detailing information on Violence & Gore, Frightening & Intense Scenes, Drug Use, and Profanity.
The Ick will also be available on iPadOS and web.
