Scruff One-to-One Video Chat

In-app video chat involved designing both the user interface and user experience for an impactful MVP.

In-app video chat was both a UX- and UI-centered project that I was tasked with in the spring of 2021. User-to-user video chat had been on the product roadmap, but with the pandemic and increased demand from the community, it was moved up in the pipeline. Due to this community demand as well as comparable apps pushing out similar features; efficiency and a pedantic attention to detail was paramount for a speedy, but still delightful MVP implementation.

Production

Two months

Full collaboration between myself, product management, and engineering was implemented from the outset of the project. This entailed weekly update meetings where I was the main point-person for all matters pertaining to design, along with the CEO, and heads of Engineering and Marketing.

Direct collaboration sessions between myself, the Product Manager, and the assigned Engineer were implemented multiple times throughout the week.

The feature that resulted from this collaborative two-month design and engineering sprint was human-centered in its approach and was mapped out logically to take into consideration all the means by which a user would video chat another user (user flow maps available above).
